A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was created for the bliss of souls like mine. I am so happy, my dear friend, so absorbed in the exquisite sense of mere tranquil existence, that I neglect my talents.

History of Ram Janmabhoomi

The Ram Mandir, often referred to as Ram Janmabhoomi (translated as “Rama’s Birthplace”), is one of the most significant religious and cultural sites in India, located in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The history of this site is a tapestry of faith, politics, archaeology, and socio-religious movements. Below is a concise account of its historical trajectory:

Ancient Roots: The city of Ayodhya, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama, one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu, has been revered in various Hindu scriptures and epics, most notably the Ramayana. According to the sacred texts, the city was the capital of the Kosala Kingdom, where Rama was born and ruled.

Archaeological Surveys: In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, several archaeological surveys were conducted to determine the nature of structures that existed before the mosque. Some surveys suggested the presence of a structure resembling Hindu temples.

Court Verdict and Temple Construction: After decades of legal battles, in November 2019, the Supreme Court of India ruled in favor of the construction of a Ram temple, allocating an alternative site to Muslims to construct a mosque. This verdict paved the way for the construction of the Ram Mandir.

The foundation stone for the new Ram Mandir was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 5, 2020, marking the beginning of the temple’s construction.

The Ram Mandir and the Ram Janmabhoomi site encapsulate not just the deep religious sentiments of many Indians but also reflect the complex interplay of history, faith, and politics in the nation’s narrative.
